Did you know you can STAMP WITH WATER?!
Check out the full Demo Video below:
To create this effect, you’ll need to create a blended background (using Blending Brushes or Blending Sponges) that REACTS with WATER
Here, I used the Picket Fence Blending Brushes to create an interesting Ombre Background using 3 colors of Distress Ink :
Seedless Preserves
Dusty Concord
Chipped Sapphire
Then, I used my finger to apply WATER to the stamp. (I shook off any excess water that might have pooled), and stamped it on the inked paper
What ends up happening is actually really cool!! The water DISPLACES the ink and you end up with an almost “Batik” look!!
The other thing that you can do is cut out shapes (Here I used the Altenew Stars die cuts that I cut out of white card stock) and soaked them in water for a moment, then pressed them on the background with my finger. I removed them quickly!
You can see above how the reaction starts right away!!
I added a splatter of water with my finger and used some water on my finger to swipe along the bottom of the card for the “ground” under the dinosaur
Check out these other ideas using the same concepts as above!!
I wanted to play around with the idea of doing the SAME THING with a pan watercolor set!
I misted the paints ahead of time with a Mini-Mister and then used the Picket Fence Blending Brushes to apply a few colors at a time to a piece of white card stock
Heat-set the background with a heat-gun…
Then, you can STAMP with watercolors!!
I made a puddle of colored water (In this case, black)… and did the same technique as I did before when I stamped with water!
(Hint: The darker the watercolor, the more likely it will show up on the background)
Thanks for checking out all the fun ideas with me!!
Did you know you can be one of the FIRST to see the NEW DEMO VIDEOS when they are released on Wednesdays at Noon?
See you next time!!
