Hello friends and welcome to this weeks Make and Take craft!!!
This week we are inspired by musicians!! Let’s learn to use a stencil, piece together paper, and create a life-like paper guitar!!!!
Check out the video right here:
Want to know an amazing secret?? You don’t need to be able to draw perfectly to create something as amazing as this!
Search online for a public domain shape of your object of choice- is it a guitar? A Crow? What about a giant Gnome?
Print this image out, trace the outline, cut it out, and use it as a stencil!
Using this paper-piecing technique lets you create some amazingly intricate paper pieces!!
We’re using this guitar shape today!!
For this guitar we’ll be attempting a semi-realistic representation of a guitar. So let’s start building the body!
You’ll need:
~ one Body piece from BOTH woodgrain and solid
~ two Neck pieces from the solid paper
~ one silver piece for the Bridge
~ one silver piece for the Pick Guard
~ a strip of silver for Tuning Pegs and Nut
~ a circle for the Soundhole
And
~Twine for the strings!
After you trace and cut out ALL these pieces- the fun part begins!!
Remember to punch holes out where the Strings will go!
We are going to sandwich together these guitar bits!
Start with the very back of the Body, layer your Neck so the Tuning pegs are between the two solid pieces. Attach your Bridge with 6 loose strings- ready for stringing and tuning!
You can adhere the entire guitar together Except the very top of the Neck- we need to string the Strings!
This guitar is a standard 6 string, so we’ll attach each string from the left to right and attach it to the hole in the Neck. Use a little bit of glue on the backside of the Head to secure the strings once they’re in the proper hole.
Don’t forget the tuning pegs! Thankfully, this guitar is already in perfect tune!
Add the last bits of glue to secure it all and There You Have it- a Paper Pieced Guitar!!
Now that your guitar is all put together- let’s make a Pick to practice with!
Simply cut out an itty-bitty pick shape from thick cardstock! Choose your favorite color and decorate it if you’d like!
We also make some Teeny Tiny stickers for you to cut out and embellish your guitar with! I chose these stickers for my guitar!
Thanks for creating with us this week!!
This craft is easy as can be when you come on in and create it with us! We’ll have all of our guitar pieces ready and available for you ALL WEEK!
See you soon! Happy Practicing!
