Non-Adhesive Mini-Books

Hello Friends!! Today I wanted to share some fun ideas with you for creating little books that require NO ADHESIVE. That’s right… no glue or tape!!

This is a great project to do with kids and only requires things that you probably have laying around your house!

Check out the Video Demo here:

To make a non-adhesive mini-book:

  • Start out by selecting a piece of card stock for the cover. I chose a light weight card stock that has this blue parchment look

  • Next, select some pages for the inside. The pages will need to be “text weight” paper (so not card stock).

  • You will also need a hole punch and 3 rubber bands.

  • Recommended: Score Board for making fold-lines

  • Next, cut the papers down to size. The cover of the book will need to be 1” longer and 1/4” taller than the text weight papers.

  • Then, if you are using a score board, you will need to score (or place a fold line) in the middle of the text weight pages and the middle of the cover

  • Now score the cover 1/2” from the left and right. (see photo below)

  • Fold the flaps over to make little half-circle holes on the top and bottom of each tab.

  • Next, place a rubber band in the “spine” of the book and this will hold the pages in place!

  • Fold over the flaps on the left and right, wrap a rubber band around so it lands in the half circle divots we created, and the 1/2” fold will hold the pages in place!

Now that you know HOW to make a non-adhesive mini-book… let’s start creating!!

Check out this idea using decorative floral paper and silver elastic twine!

You can even stretch the silver elastic around to the back side to hold the mini-book CLOSED!

Check out this one where I used the same concept but made a TOP OPEN style of book!! I love the little hearts on the inside!

This one I used a double twine of red elastic and added the burgundy leaves after the fact.

Check out this one, with the same idea, but making a FUN FOLD mini book!!

I used my Mushroom Stencil for the front of the mini book and added in detail with a Black Glaze Pen

I also wanted to make a fun mini-book that would be a little more elegant… and I LOVE black and ivory together!!

I did a quick little watercolor for the font of my book and I used 2 different thicknesses of elastic to put my book together!!
