Hi Friends!
This week we’re going outside and grabbing some flowers to create with!! We’ll be dipping them in alcohol inks, pressing them onto acetate, and creating light catchers!!
Check out the video below:
I am so inspired by this craft- there are so many flowers you could play with and the inks are so vibrant together!
These light catchers are so simple to make you could explore similar ideas creating a chain of a bunch of them, using a flower in different stages of its life, or even trying to create a scene out of the flower-prints!
This craft will be available ALL Week!!
First, let’s take a look at all the lovely flowers we have!! We’re really excited for an excuse to bring fresh flowers all week!!
We have 5 different colors of alcohol ink to chose from- you can match the flower or go for a totally different color!!
When you press the dipped flower on to the acetate, it’s impression will dry on to the surface.
Try layering these shapes in different ways- you can create so much!
Now that you’ve made a sheet of stamped acetate that you love- we’ll choose which frame looks best. We have a few options here like circle, bell, and rounded rectangle.
I’m choosing a circle for this piece!
Now, we’ll take the same die we just used and grab another a size smaller- this will create a delicate border to ‘guild’ the edges.
We’ll be cutting this out of Mirri-Card- a reflective paper that looks like metal! We have bronze, silver, and black- as well as many other colors available.
Let’s attach the frames with a bit of double-sided tape.
Grab a length of twine and sandwich it between the frames before they’re fully adhered!
If you’d like, we have a few stamps to match these light catchers. “Believe in the Magic” is a really whimsical sentiment that suits this project very well.
StazOn Pigment ink is the perfect inkpad for stamping on to acetate- as it bonds to plastic!!
Hurray!! You’ve just made an elegant floral light catcher!! Hang it anywhere the light hits and watch the shadows of flowers dance on your wall!
Want to make this craft with us? We’ll have fresh flowers and everything you’ll need stationed in the shop until next Wednesday!
And as always, if you’re reading this in the future- we have everything you’ll need to create this in our store and are More than Happy to help you create something inspiring!!
Thanks for creating with us today!!
See you soon!!
