Here at Art and Happiness we have an apothecary of assorted charms- everything from letters and numbers to flowers and fruit! Seriously theres like A Hundred or so different charms!!!

You can find charms in So many places- try your local art store, thrift store, book shop, yarn shop, even sometimes yard sales and free piles!!! Any shape, size, or material can be used as a charm so long as it suits your project.

One of the simplest and Cutest ways to use charms is to make a Necklace!!

This is some simple woven cotton twine and charms tied on to make a lovely collection of pendants!

You could use this same technique to make a braided bookmark, hair accessory, bracelet, or anything!

I’ll bet using different weaving, braiding, or twisting and adding charms in different spots would create something really amazing!

Here’s a simple Watercolor Watermelon Card that uses watermelon charms!

This adorable watermelon paper is so fun for a fruity card! After mounting it on a dark green border for the ‘rind’ the extra space of the card base was filled in with pink water color! The splatter marks were made by saturating the brush in a darker pink and flicking droplets on! This makes such a fun background!

Simply gluing the watermelon charms onto the margin adds a level of dimension that ties the whole card together so nicely!!

This card lets the charms be the main focus of the piece!

Using hot glue to adhere stars and a moon charm to this black card base makes a simple and elegant scene. Thin gold twine and spots of golden paint create a cohesive cute card!!

If you have a charm that you love and want to be the focus of a card consider using a more simple background and embellishments- that way it stands out in its own beauty!

Isn’t this card precious?? I love how the single wings not only make a focus point but they Also tie the paper angels to the golden twine addition!!

This is a great way to use a pair of charms to accent a background or focal point!!

Imagine if you had a tiny trumpet charm to add to this card!! That would be precious!

This Bowtie charm is an absolute eye-catcher!

By adding complimentary borders, circle punching the diagonals, and mounting them all onto a floral background this elegant card comes together! The eye is drawn to the charm and softened by the embellishments.

What a wonderful way to make a piece About your favorite charm and totally support it in the surrounding layers.

Try matching colors and shapes to make something like this for your own project!

I hope you have found some inspiration today in how to use charms!

There are endless ways to use charms and embellishments to make your art something amazing!!

See you next time, friends!!
