Let's Talk About PENS!!

Let’s Talk about Pens!

Hello Friends!!

Today we’re talking all about PENS!!

As simple as a ballpoint and as fancy as a parallel pen, theres a pen for every project!!

Check out the full Demo video below:

With pens of every color, thickness, shape, opacity, and blend-ablity there are ENDLESS possibilities to explore and your favorite pens to find!!

Ever curious how your pens interact with watercolor, embossing powder, ink, mica powder, or each other?? Grab a scrap of paper and your handful of pens and start exploring!!

Did you know you can write ON watercolor??

Make any shape or squiggle with your Watercolor Pen - a Brush Pen with a refillable water compartment! Having the water readily available in the same pen as your brush makes a portable, more accurate option for watercolor!

Once those fun shapes have dried I took my black and white Uni-Ball ballpoint pens and simply drew on top!! Uni-Ball pens come in black, white, silver, gold, red, and blue!! Endless color-combos to play with!

One of the most versatile pens for this same technique is the Fudenosuke Pen by Tombow! The brush nib lets you vary line width by pressure, creating both very thin and thick lines easily.

This pen can be used both Under and Over watercolor and markers! It dries quickly, letting you layer your inks in a variety of ways!

Have you ever wanted to blend your pens to make super amazing ombre effects??

DecoBrush markers make this SO EASY!! They’re self-cleaning and water-based which means you can touch two or more colors together to create a gradient that blends out with use.

You can make So Many Effects for your lettering and drawing using this technique!!

Not only can you use the classic DecoBrushes with this technique but the Acrylic Brush Markers work just the same!!

With their self-cleaning ability you can safely blend Any colors! The versatility of acrylic paint lets you create on almost any surface!

It’s so fun to play around and see what Other pens can become dual-color!

These parallel pens are able to hold a small amount of ink from another pen and create a Beautiful multi-tone line! By touching the tip of the purple pen to the side of the orange, both inks flow together to create amazing detail!

The brush pens we’ve worked with so far are felt-tipped which is wonderful for steady ink flow and consistent lines!

So, what happens when you’re playing with a Bristle tipped brush pen? Amazing Things!!

With this Kuretake RealBrush pen, the individual bristles let you create the tiniest of lines, press into thick lines, and come back to thin in a single stroke! Also, if you move the pen in wide, quick strokes a beautiful dry-brush effect comes out!

Try using the dry brush method to shade a drawing or the thin-to-thick to have contrast in your lining!

Chisel Tipped pens like this are also effective in various line thickness!

Use the thick side of the chisel tip to create consistent thick lines! Rotating the pen lets the line vary between the thick and thin! Try playing with a pen like this for lettering and calligraphy!

Not only do the Tombow Dual-Tip pens have a classic felt brush tip- they also have a single size nib on the other side!! This lets you use Both ends for your project!

Try using the brush pen to create a background and the single point to make crisp lettering!

There are a lot of benefits to using a pen with a single, consistent size line! Try them out and see how lines, hatching, dots, and lining are more easily achieved when you dont have to worry about pressure control!

These Le Pens come in so many colors!! Try holding two or more and drawing with them At The Same Time to make some really fun effects!

Now that we’ve covered a variety of different types of pens lets talk about what you can add to make your creation Extra Fun!!

With the Clear Versamark Ink Pen you can emboss Whatever You Draw!!!

I used the felt brush nib to doodle and heat embossed with the PEARLuster Moonstone embossing powder!

Just like the VersaMarker pen, the Karin DecoBrush markers can be embossed too!!!

I used a teal Karin marker and Clear Embossing powder to create this amazing effect on Kromekote Paper! (Which is a glossy paper on one side)

Try this technique with you favorite marker!!

Now this technique Blew My Mind!! Did you know you can emboss over a regular ballpoint pen??

Grab any common ballpoint pen (or a super cute rainbow one like me!) and your favorite embossing powder and try this out!!

Not only can u emboss ballpoint pen marks but you can also make them Shimmer with Mica Powder!!

I simply wrote out my phrases and doodles, grabbed my favorite mica powder, and rubbed it on the paper! It will stick to the ink and lightly highlight the paper itself!

Now that you’ve explored our pens and learned some new techniques its time to see what YOUR favorite pens can do!!

Let yourself play and explore- the possibilities are endless!!
