Stamp Pad Inks, Explained!

Stamp Pad Inks, Explained!!

Hello friends!! Welcome to this week’s Demo Video! This week I wanted to share ideas with you and educate you on how to use your Stamping Inks! Today we will be talking about Distress Inks, Distress Oxide Inks, Versafine Clair Inks, and Versamark Ink. Check out the Video Tutorial below:

Distress Ink Pads:

Distress Ink pads are Dye/ Water-based inks. They MOVE with water (aka, they are NOT waterproof).

-Create the “Splatter” look

-Ink dries on Stardream and Kromekote papers

Check out these fun ideas!!

  • You can “smoosh” the ink pad onto a craft mat and WATERCOLOR with the inks!

  • You can use your Blending Brushes to blend the inks onto Card Stock or Kromekote Papers!

  • “Smoosh” the ink pads onto a craft mat, spritz water, then do a mono-print onto Kromekote paper

Distress Oxide Ink Pads:

Distress Oxide Ink Pads are a HYBRID Ink. They have both Dye AND Pigment in the ink. This ink also moves with water (aka NOT waterproof)

Distress Oxide Inks:

-Hybrid Ink (Dye and Pigment)

-Use with Blending Brushes

-Create the “splatter” look

-Use on Black/Dark Papers

-Heat Emboss

Check out these fun ideas:

  • Use your Blending Brushes with the Oxide Inks and FALL IN LOVE with the vibrant colors!! Colors blend perfectly together because the ink stays wet long enough to create perfect blending

  • Blend the inks together, then create the “splatter” look to add fun and dimension to your creations

  • Blend or stamp onto black or dark paper!

  • Stamp with the Oxide Inks and use Clear Embossing Powder to heat-set the image! The image is waterproof once the Embossing Powder has been heat-set with a heat gun.

Versafine CLAIR Ink Pads:

This is my personal favorite ink that I carry. The ink gives you crisp images but is totally waterproof when dry!

Versafine CLAIR Ink:

-Waterproof when dry

-Crisp stamped image

-Heat Emboss

Check out these fun ideas!

  • When you stamp with the Nocturne (black) Versafine CLAIR ink the images are so crisp and dark it looks like you’ve PRINTED OFF A COMPUTER!!

  • Stamp with a colored Versafine CLAIR Ink and then heat emboss the image!

  • Stamp with the ink, let it FULLY dry, then color with watercolors OR markers and the lines don’t bleed or move!

  • Stamp with the Versafine CLAIR ink and brush on Pearl-Ex Mica powders. The powder STICKS to the ink, no heat required!

Versamark Ink Pad:

Versamark Ink is an oil-based ink that stays wet long enough to hold embossing powders in place. It is the “Embossing Ink” that most people use for doing heat embossing

Versamark Ink:

-Clear ink pad

-Heat emboss

-Stays wet a little longer

Check out these fun ideas!

  • Stamp your image with the Versamark Ink pad, then do “multi-colored embossing” by sprinkling on one color, then a second color, then heat-setting the image! I love this effect!!

  • Stamp your image onto dark/black paper, then use White Embossing Powder on the image and heat set it to get this BRIGHT WHITE image on dark paper

  • Use the Versamark ink pad to stamp an image onto paper then use the Pearl-Ex powders to “reveal” the image (and color it at the same time!!)

  • Versamark also comes in PEN FORM so you can write in “invisible ink” and then REVEAL the image/words with Pearl- Ex powders!!

Hopefully now you have a greater understanding of HOW and WHEN to use the different kinds of inks for your projects!!
