Intro to Stamping and Heat Embossing Video Tutorial:

Most people are familiar with Wood Mount Stamps, like this Castle Cute Sky High stamp from Impression Obsession:

.. but did you know that THESE are stamps too?!?

These kind of stamps are actually made out of a clear polymer and they stick onto a Clear Acrylic Block.

The stamps work as a “cling” style so they stick on the clear block over and over and never wear out.

(You can clean the clear polymer stamps with Stamp Cleaner or even a small bowl of dish-soap and water.)

To ink your stamp properly, you actually put the block on the table STAMP SIDE UP and “tap” on the ink. Most ink pads in the Art Industry are raised, so you can easily tap on the ink. (My favorite ink to use is the Versafine Clair Ink). The clear stamps are fantastic because you can actually SEE when your stamp is fully inked.

Now for the FUN STUFF!! Heat Embossing!!!

To do Heat Embossing, you ink the stamp with the Versamark Ink Pad (which is an oil-based clear ink) which will hold Embossing Powder in place.

Embossing Powder is a Powdered Resin that is even finer than glitter!

You coat the stamped area with the Embossing Powder and shake off the excess (put it back in the container to use again!!) and then use a Heat Gun to heat-set the embossing powder. Embossing Powder melts at 450 degrees so you MUST use a Heat Gun to melt the powder!

DID YOU KNOW you can also do Multi-Color Embossing?! To do that, you stamp with the clear Versamark ink, but then you sprinkle on one color of Embossing Powder at at time to achieve the multi-color effect. Then you heat-set the image all at once.
