Hello and welcome to this weeks Demo!! Lemons, Limes, Grapefruits, and Oranges: The perfect fruit for making ART!! Let’s play around and create something amazing!
Watch the full video here:
Let’s experiment with Ink Blending, Stamping, and Ink Displacement!
We’ll start by gathering ink pads to match our fruit theme!! Green for Limes, Yellow for Lemons, Pink for Grapefruits, and -of course- orange for Oranges!
By pressing very lightly on your blending brush you can achieve a beautiful gradient from each color!
Distress Oxide Inks are not water-proof which means we can use water to create some really cool effects!
We can spritz the face of our fruit and press it into the ink! The water will replace the ink and leave us a pastel print of the citrus!!
While these patterns are delicate- they create amazing detail to our background!
Now that our water prints have dried, we can create our black ink citrus prints!! If you need your ink to dry faster, consider using a heat gun or laying your art under a hair dryer for a moment.
Using the Black Soot Distress Ink and water we will create a dipping basin!
Let’s grab the other halves of our fruit and dip them in the ink mixture! It will be very saturated after your first dip so use that ink on your other fruit! You can also blot off the excess ink on a paper towel!
Press your fruit face-down on the paper and press it to create an impression!!
Hurray, our colorful citrus art is created!! But we aren’t done yet!
Grab your card base and open it to the inside- you can stamp on the inside as well!! This is a great way to tie it all together!
One of my favorite effects of this printing technique is how the Citrus juice distorts the ink color when dried with a heat gun!! The black ink ‘burns’ and becomes this burnt sienna color!! How Fun!
It’s time to create our card!!
We’ll tape our colorful citrus strip to our black cardstock to create a mounted border. Make sure to align the creases so they can bend together!! This will be adhered and folded over the front of our card!
Choose which side you’d like to be the front and stick it down! Be sure to leave slightly more room on the top of the card for our stamped sentiment.
We have two PUN-y phrases for you to choose: “Citrus Got Real” and “The Zest is Yet to Come”
Now you can choose if you’d like to embellish it more!
You could grab a matching ribbon and create a bow or cut out an extra slice of colorful citrus and create a 3D element!!
You could even decorate your envelope if you’d like!!
Thank you so much for crafting with us today!!
This demo is available ALL WEEK!! Come on down to create with us or give us a call to get ideas on how to create with your own supplies!!
Happy crafting we’ll see you soon!!
